Cocoa Beach is part of the Space coast, and being just over 20 miles from the Shuttle Landing facility was very popular spot for seeing the shuttle return and its proximity makes it a great place for the passing tourist to launch a day or two at the Nasa Launch HQ at Kennedy Space Centre.

Cocoa Beach is served by Melbourne (15 miles), Orlando (Sanford- 73 Miles) and Daytona (77 Miles) airports, and is only just over 1 hours drive from Orlando itself. So Cocoa Beach makes a great alternative to staying in Orlando itself and you have the benefit of the beaches, countryside and a get away from everything that Orlando has to offer – should you want to.
Of course as we have mentioned on our other pages, Florida is home to an amazing array of animals, from Alligators to Manatees and Pelicans to the American Bald Eagle. From the beach you can observe Dolphins in the sea, Sea turtles nesting and a host of wildfowl busy on the beach, in the sea or where the two may meet. Other options include taking some inland tours including Kayak through Cocoa Beach’s Thousand Islands where you can view some the best inland wildlife Florida has to offer. or hike with a guide through the nature trails. Just one option for things to do around Cocoa Beach is Fish Tales Tours who have a range of tours available.
