There are two areas of Daytona Beach, these are separated by the Halifax River which forms part of the Intercoastal Waterway.

The area land which is oceanside has a number of areas surrounding it, Ormond Beach to the north, Daytona Beach Shores, Wilbur By The Sea, and ponce inlet to the south. The boundaries between these areas are often only really marked y a sign so you can be forgiven for driving up or down the A1A and not realisng  that you have moved from one to the other.

 

According to the 2010 US Census there were a shade over 61000 residents in Daytona Beach, however these numbers are swelled by vacationers, snowbirds, and of course during event weeks, the visitors for the event weeks.

Subsequently there is plenty to do and plenty of places to go in an around Daytona. From Daytona Raceway to Minigolf, the beach to the cinema and of course a vast array of places to eat and drink.
